Dark & Romantic, Jewel Toned Wedding in Alaska: Caitlin & Jason

It might be almost summer over here in the UK, but we are still completely crushing on this picturesque, Alaskan destination wedding.

Erica Rose Photography captured Catlin & Jason’s dark & romantic snowy day beautifully, and we can not wait to share it with you!

I always thought I would end up in an a-line dress, this dress from Essence of Australia was the exact opposite of what I thought I’d end up wearing. I loved the mix of the soft tulle and lace. It was fitted enough to show a bit of curves, and I felt beautiful in it.

I designed my own wedding shoes, a gorgeous pair of blush nudes with a touch of glitter and wore a faux fur stole from etsy.

I gifted all the girls with earrings on the day. They all wore David’s Bridal dresses in the colour wine and different heels (matching snow boots, although you never see them because of the snow!) They also wore shawls – simple scarves from Nordstrom Rack.

The Army Chaplain married us in a simple ceremony. 40 friends and family, was intimate and such an important moment. Anytime we thought we were going to cry we just looked past each other. I’d look out the window at the kids sledging and it would help me to stay composed and in the moment, feeling everything, realising this is real and happening.

Erica our wedding photographer, was amazing! She is such a wonderful person. Calm, collected, yet excited enough that you feel beautiful when you’re in front of her camera. She has so much talent, such a great spirit, and having her shoot our wedding is one wedding decision I would make 100 times over.

We had lots of lanterns and candles to decorate the venue. I made nametags and the table numbers matched the invitations and programs from minted.com. The artist was Susan Moyal and the design was “Peonies and Berries”.

For the proposal, we went camping up in Big Sur, California. Just the two of us, no cell service, into the forest services area where there aren’t campgrounds, just out in nature.

We got there and there is the most fantastic sunset I’ve ever seen. I turn around and Jason is down on one knee. I can’t even remember what he said, just that he was so nervous (despite us being together for 6 years and me being absolutely obvious that I wanted to marry him.)

Of course, I said yes, we spent the whole night alone, soaking in the moment, staring at the stars and just being together.

That word “together” became incredibly meaningful to us. We may not always get to be together, in the same physical space or place, but we’ll go through life together, support each other, love each other, laugh, grow, cry, grow old together, and TOGETHER we can do anything and be endlessly happy because we are together.

I for one am loving this snowy elopement in Alaska!! Congratulations Caitlin and Jason – you make such a wonderful couple.
