Vacay After The Vacay

Ever feel the need for a vacation after a vacation?

No? Me either.

Ok, yes. Yes, I do.

I just got back from my bi-annual weekend getaway with my girlfriends. Our #ThreeCabinChicas getaway. Honestly, we have the best time. I wrote about it here and here and wrote down one of our dinners (that we ALWAYS have) here.

We. Do. NOTHING. Have you ever done that? Just…nothing? You should try it sometime. It’s amazing.

We watch movies, eat, talk… that’s about it. We have our computers with us, and our phones. But our main goal is to do NOTHING. And it’s so nice.

When the day comes that we have to leave, we are mostly ready to see our families. But coming home to them can be totally crazy. From being a slug for three days to jumping right back into groceries, cooking, work, dishes, laundry, husband, kids, pets…it can be less than thrilling to get back to normal.

Not that you’re being lazy or anything. But I feel like the peace that passes all understanding when you’re in a mountain cabin, with people that expect nothing from you, overlooking a serene lake has to be the closest you can get to heaven, right? So coming back to daily activities can be a little bit of a downer, to say the least. As much as I’m ready to see my family, I’m not ready for the daily grind.

Seems like my hubby might have known that too. I came home and he already had dinner ready to cook that evening and the house was clean.

I got to take a 2 1/2 hour nap! Just what I needed.

Thank you, Lord, for a wonderful weekend and a safe return home!
