Feature: Boss Babes in the Boro

About a year ago, four women decided they wanted to make a difference in their community and started a networking group for women. They were Raina van Setter of Weddings & Events by Raina, Brittany Jones of
Concoctions Bartending, Mahlia Dooley of Ivory Door Studio, and Molly Brown of Hello Beautiful. A year later, this new group of women is now settled and taking our small, but rapidly growing, town by storm. Some of them are photographers, some of them are boutique owners, some health trainers, massage therapists, bartenders... from all walks of life. One thing they have in common is they're all strong, independent business women winning awards and standing strong in their mission that community is more important than competition. They are called Boss Babes in the Boro.

Below, Raina told us a little more about Boss Babes.

Tell me a little about Boss Babes in the Boro.
Boss Babes has been around for about a year now and is run by four local business women. We meet on the first Thursday of every month, always at a different locally female-owned business to bring attention and support to our local shops.

How else do you help women?
Boss Babes in the Boro also helps fellow members find jobs within our community, or helps solve problems they might be having with their businesses by getting them connected with the right people. We had a member that was having issues navigating the local codes to get her shop opened. We got her in touch with a Locally Owned Murfreesboro representative to help with her paperwork, and we just celebrated her grand opening last month!

How do you use social media to help members?
We spotlight our members on our Facebook and Instagram pages telling followers not just about the business, but about the Boss Babe behind the business. We feel this makes them more relatable, more approachable, and therefore more marketable. After all, you’re more likely to shop & support your friends or people you can easily see being your friends! The Facebook and Instagram pages aren’t just shout out sites, however, we also make an effort to use these tools to inspire and commiserate. Letting other Boss Babes in the Boro know that they aren’t alone, that we’ve got their backs, and to just make others smile...you never know when someone needs it.

What else can you tell me?
Many female networking groups advocate “community over competition,” however, it is essentially our motto and mission. We make a concerted effort to put this forth at each networking event...especially when we go around the room and make introductions. If anyone expresses the need for assistance or support we are ALL in!

How do I get tickets?
Tickets are available via Facebook and Instagram and are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The ticket price usually includes a discount at the host boutique or shop, two drink tickets for our signature Boss Babe Cocktail, and a Swag Bag filled with little goodies and coupons from that month’s swag sponsors. For 2020, Boss Babes in the Boro will be offering an annual membership for those who don’t want to worry over the hassle of buying tickets each month. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Instagram for more info!

Who are the Swag Sponsors?
A Swag Sponsor is anyone that would like to contribute to the Swag Bags. The are also encouraged to attend the event to maximize their exposure. If a local business wants to donate items to the monthly Swag Bags they can contact us via Facebook or Instagram for more info.

Thanks Raina!!!!
